Why does lipstick make you lose your natural lipcolor?

When I was younger, I heard a lot of older women saying that you shouldn't use lipstick or gloss or most products on your lips because they said that it makes you lose your natural lipcolor. Obviously I thought it was stupid, and I didn't listen to them. Now, after a few years of wearing lipstick/lipgloss, I've definitely noticed that my lips are a lot paler than they used to be. So it looks like they were right. Does anyone know why this is?

(please no stupid comments, I don't hesitate to report comments. but thanks so much to other people who care to answer)Why does lipstick make you lose your natural lipcolor?
You are blocking the sun from reaching your lips, so the pigment begins to fade away. It's like if you were to paint your entire body everyday, then you would be very white.

Try using clear glosses, that just add a tint of color. Why does lipstick make you lose your natural lipcolor?
Well, I think it's because your lips are like your skin.

Your skin gets older faster if you use make up at a young age..

I don't use make up for that reason.

Think about it- why do famous actors look so ugly with out make up??

It's because they started using it at a very young age and kept using it so it made their skin look old and ugly without it..

The same goes for lipstick and some lipglosses.... The more you use it, the more naturality you take away from your lips!!

Sorry if this doesn't sound like it's a sincere answer but it is!!
No it doesn't it just makes you lip better with smooth and nice lip and smile but you still won't lose you lip color if you show it.
I think it's more that you're used to seeing your lips with the extra color lipstick gives, so they look lighter with no lipstick on them. also, as you age your lips are gonna lose color just like your eyes will.
It's because your lips get color with the sun and if you've been covering them with lip stuff, then their not getting those UV rays that add a touch of color.
the chemicals dye your lips
